Job Purpose

The position is responsible for providing analytical support through GC-MS techniques, contributing to fragrance evaluation, method development, and innovation in collaboration with global R&D teams.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Conduct fragrance analysis and evaluation:

  • Analyze fragrances from market products including fine fragrances, personal care, and household products.
  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret samples using GC-MS systems.
  • Apply advanced sample preparation techniques to a wide range of fragranced consumer products.
  • Participate in olfactory assessments and contribute to fragrance stability evaluations.

 

Develop analytical methods and support innovation:

  • Contribute to the development of new analytical methods to expand the range of techniques available.
  • Collaborate with R&D to support the advancement of proprietary technologies.
  • Utilize knowledge of perfumery materials and essential oils to produce fragrance formulations.

 

Maintain instruments and ensure data integrity:

  • Perform routine maintenance and ensure accurate record-keeping of analytical instruments.
  • Support global CPL divisions by providing analytical insights and reports.

Skills and Attributes Required

Education:

  • Science-based education in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or similar.

 

Professional experience:

  • Professional experience in a similar position (8-10 years).
  • Experience in fragrance, cosmetic or related industries.

 

Other skills and requirements:

  • High level of Spanish (C1-C2).
  • Medium-high level of English (B1-B2).
  • Advanced GC-MS skills in relevant industry.
  • Knowledge of the composition of fragrance raw materials and essential oils.
  • Knowledge of other analytical techniques such as HPLC (desirable).
  • Experience of Agilent data handling software (desirable).
  • Olfactory ability - determine if a fragrance passes the stability test. 
  • Good computer skills - Microsoft Office.
