Reports to:

Operations Manager

Job Purpose:

Responsible for the proper operation of the quality control laboratories, ensuring the quality of all raw materials used in the division. Additionally, is responsible for ensuring that the fragrances shipped to customers meet quality standards, as well as for the related technical documentation.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Manage quality:

  • Lead the team responsible for inspection and sampling to ensure continuous monitoring of raw materials, finished products, and activities related to the product and process.
  • Develop quality control methods and procedures by adapting and applying CPL’s global procedures, ensuring that the organization’s standards are maintained.
  • Manage the quality control program to ensure production quality in accordance with the standards established by the organization.
  • Analyze the nature and cause of errors in both products and processes, identifying areas that need to be corrected or modified.
  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s quality standards.
  • Comply with the procedures established in the company’s management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with the raw material control plan.
  • Propose improvement actions.

 

Customer contact:

  • Responsible for investigating and responding to complaints and/or claims received from customers.
  • Advise the relevant departments on the techniques, methods, uses, and storage of raw materials and finished products.
  • Keep management informed of any issues and trends that arise in your area.

 

Manage resources:

  • Ensure that raw materials requiring reprocessing or re-inspection are available for production, thereby guaranteeing their quality.
  • Perform daily approval tasks and other duties within the department.
  • Ensure compliance with CPL standards for the maintenance of measurement and control equipment, as well as their implementation and monitoring.
  • Monitor and ensure that equipment requiring calibration remains properly calibrated.

 

Perform analysis and interpret data:

  • Measure and analyze data and product specifications—for both finished products and raw materials—to ensure they meet the organization’s standards.
  • Perform gas chromatography analyses on all fragrances and raw materials.

 

Manage reports and objectives:

  • Measure and monitor performance indicators for the assigned area.
  • Generate and analyze monthly reports for the area at both the local and global levels.
  • Supervise and prepare technical reports.
  • Implement the objectives of the quality control department and ensure they align with the Company’s strategy.

 

Lead and supervise team:

  • Lead the assigned team in assigning tasks and responsibilities, setting priorities for the work to be done.
  • Train new team members, develop existing staff, and introduce the team to new techniques, methods, or other approaches.
  • Evaluate and monitor the performance of team members by tracking their progress toward set goals and the responsibilities assigned to each individual.
  • Plan, promote, lead, and organize training activities related to quality control.
  • Foster and maintain a positive work environment within your team and with other teams.
  • Ensure the health and safety of workers.
  • Keep the team informed about changes in processes or any other aspect related to quality control.

Education:

  • University degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy or related fields.
  • Training in chromatography.
  • Application techniques in the field of perfumery (desirable).

 

Professional experience:

  • Professional experience in chemical/pharmaceutical laboratory analysis (5-7 years).
  • Experience managing quality control teams (5 years).
  • Experience in gas chromatography techniques.
  • Professional experience in the industrial sector of fragrance or cosmetic manufacturing (desirable).

 

Other knowledge and requirements:

  • High level of Spanish (C1-C2).
  • Intermediate level of English (B2-C1).
  • Knowledge of IS0 9001 (desirable).
  • Olfactory ability – determining whether a fragrance passes the triangular olfactory test against the standard.
  • Good understanding of technical information.
  • Good knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
  • Good computer skills - Microsoft Office (essential).
