Job Purpose
To accurately weigh out synthetic & natural aroma chemicals, oils and powder chemicals to a given formulation in accordance with the company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and health and safety guidelines.
To work as part of a team, maintaining all aspects of Health, Safety and hygiene.
Communicating with other departments on any issues to ensure we maintain a high level of customer service to our Sales colleagues through the Perfumer samples and our production colleagues through subs and solutions production.
Tasks and Responsibilities

- Ensuring efficient maintenance of the lab to an acceptable standard
- Ordering RM from Brixworth, ensuring good storage conditions and maintaining stock freshness of each raw material in the collection.
- Verify the aspect and the smell of raw materials and, if in doubt, alert the perfumer.
- Confirming pots/paperwork making sure they are correct and matching each other, creating a detailed report at the end of each day with the oils received from Brixworth C1.
- Finishing formulas using BMS stations arriving in pots straight from BX robots in the morning and beginning of the afternoon.
- Ensure all equipment is always kept clean.
- Compound RM’s according to the formulation.
- Ensuring use of raw materials in FIFO order.
- Making sure completed jobs are combined and then check weighed before packing.
- Complete jobs on BMS and on the paperwork as required.
- Report any errors or spills immediately.
- Storing and maintaining hearts and bases used by IH perfumers when formulating cuts.
- Ensuring all health, safety & hygiene procedures are always followed working within the requirements of safe laboratory practices following quality procedures to ensure adherence to BS5750, ISO 9000.
- Any other tasks required as part of daily work.
- May be required to do full compound for key priority projects determined by business need.
- Relieve Applications lab team by applying those compounded oils into different bases as soon as it only requires shaking or stirring.
- Always keep work environment clean and tidy.
At a later stage, training will be offered on operating, monitoring, and problem solving on the robot to be installed at IH
Skills and Attributes Required
- Enthusiastic and a team player
- Excellent self-motivation with the ability to work on one’s own
- Good IT skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX will be an advantage
- Excellent Numeracy & communication skills
- Able to work efficiently and effectively with attention to detail, under pressure on occasion
- Good time management
- Good communication skills.
